Connecting Europe Facility Telecom: EU selects 30 projects and invests over EUR 25.5 million

The evaluation of the third 2017 CEF Telecom call for proposals (CEF-TC-2017-3) has concluded and 30 projects were selected to receive co-funding from the European Union in four different areas:

• eInvoicing: more than EUR 8.5 million will be granted to 10 proposals with applicants from 13 EU Member States plus Norway, to help public entities adopt the European standard on electronic invoicing;
• eTranslation: more than EUR 4.7 million will be granted to 5 selected proposals including applicants from 14 EU Member States, to improve the exchange of information across language barriers in the EU;
• Europeana: EUR 3.8 million will be granted to 8 proposals with applicants from 18 EU Member States to enhance accessibility of digital resources of European heritage;
• Public Open Data: more than EUR 8.4 million will be granted to 7 proposals aiming at helping Member States  achieve a new generation of cross-border and intelligent services for citizens and enterprises, as well as supporting decision-making for public authorities, through the use of High Performance Computers. Applicants are from 9 EU Member States.

CEF Telecom funding is dedicated to Digital Service Infrastructures (DSIs) delivering networked cross-border services for citizens, businesses and public administrations. Supported projects will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the European economy, promoting the interconnection and interoperability of national, regional and local networks and access to these networks, thus supporting the development of a Digital Single Market. In the key areas such as cybersecurity, the Cybersecurity DSI promotes the establishment and deployment of a core platform of cooperation mechanisms. Supported actions will allow Member States to develop the capacity of their national and/or governmental Computer Security Incident Response Teams in a way that is interoperable with the cooperation platform. This will enhance the EU-wide capability for preparedness, cooperation and information exchange, coordination and response to cyber threats. CEF Telecom has an overall budget of €1.04 billion (2014-2020).
