KPMG Romania, Spherik Accelerator team up to support startups

BUCHAREST (Romania), (SeeNews) – The Romanian unit of international consultancy KPMG and Spherik Accelerator said they have launched Startup Growpad, a programme designed to support local startups.

The platform aims to help startups find the right resources and financing they need to develop and grow,  KPMG said in a press release on Thursday.

“Romania has a vibrant community of enthusiastic and talented people who are keen to develop new ideas through startups. Startup Growpad will be greatly beneficial to supporting Romania’s entrepreneurial sector and also the wider economy,” KPMG  Romania’s audit department partner, Aura Giurcaneanu, said.

Within the platform, participants will have access to experienced mentors, who can help them plan the next steps for the development of their businesses, as well as assistance in identifying potential customers. Also, entrepreneurs will be given help in finding and securing financing.

“The biggest challenge for a startup in its early stages is to understand the market and identify potential customers. By combining our specific experience in supporting startups through their initial stages with KPMG’s impressive track record in helping businesses to develop, we are able to offer a unique product which will support Romania’s entrepreneurs,”  Spherik Accelerator executive director, Diana Rusu, said.

KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services which operates in 154 countries and employs 200,000. In Romania, it operates from six offices located in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Iasi and Timisoara.

Spherik Accelerator is a programme designed for startups that offers support on the product, strategy, marketing and scaling. It is part of Fribourg Capital, an investment firm operating in Eastern Europe and CIS countries controlled by Moldovan businessman Ion Sturza.
