e-learning platform DataCamp secures $4M and goes B2B

With a fresh capital of $4M received from Arthur Ventures, DataCamp is moving more into the business e-learning sphere.

Founded in 2013, DataCamp was one of the startups supported through iMinds’ iStart Business Incubation Program. Based in Leuven and New York, the online data science school teaches core R programming and data science skills through entertaining video lessons and interactive coding challenges. The company has 38 employees and plans to double this number by the end of 2017.

To date, the e-learning platform is used by learners from leading companies such as RStudio, Revolution Analytics and eBay, and best-in-class academic institutions like Princeton and Duke University. Over 500,000 individuals use DataCamp to become data savvy.

This latest funding round, that comes from Arthur Ventures and is added to $2,3M in a seed funding obtained previously, will backup the scaleup’s international growth, help to develop new products and foster its B2B focus.

“We are working on a prototype for Excel training,” says DataCamp founder Jonathan Cornelissen. He expects to complete a final cooperation agreement with Microsoft by the end of this year.
