Saving lives by using kinetic energy from vehicles

Speed has been identified as a key risk factor in road traffic injuries, influencing both the risk of a road crash as well as the severity of the injuries that result from crashes. Controlling vehicle speed can prevent crashes happening and can reduce the impact when they do occur, lessening the severity of injuries sustained by the victims.

European cities increasingly face problems caused by transport and traffic. The question of how to enhance mobility while at the same time reducing congestion, accidents and pollution is a common challenge to all major cities in Europe. Urban mobility accounts for 40 % of all CO2 emissions of road transport and up to 70 % of other pollutants from transport.

How can we reduce road accidents and at the same time create renewable energy?

Pavnext created a technological solution to implement in the road pavement to promote safer, smarter and sustainable cities. Their solution is based on a technological device to implement in the road pavement surface that, without affect or interfere with the vehicles motion allows to reduce their speed without any driver action, by extracting kinetic energy from vehicles, promoting road safety. This energy is then converted into electricity, which can be used to supply electrical devices in the place without CO2 emissions associated.
